Introduction to the Universe of Ad Astrium

In the universe of Ad Astrium, astral energy is the soul of the cosmos, permeating all matter from the tiniest speck of stardust to the largest black holes, imbuing them with a fractionalized essence and awareness of the universe. The greatest concentrations of this energy reside within celestial bodies themselves, birthing the major purveyors of the will of the cosmos, the Astrals. However, as these beings exist primarily in the realm of consciousness, they cannot directly interact with the physical world. In their desire to experience the wonders of the universe firsthand and to fulfill their roles in its grand story, the Astrals rely on physical manifestations known as Astrals. Through these avatars, they can wield a sliver of their immense astral energy and influence the course of cosmic events. Humanity has become aware of the Astrals and in their pursuit to learn more about these enigmatic beings, they have inadvertently discovered the existence of astral energy. While some have embarked on noble quests for knowledge and discovery, others have been incited by selfishness and greed in a desperate race to exploit this newfound energy and power. However, they will soon learn that the phenomena of astral energy is delicate, and those who seek to harness it for their own selfish purposes risk corruption, madness, and perhaps even the manifestation of the Nihilus itself. The conflict between the Astral Beings and the antithetical Nihilus, the embodiment of entropy itself, is the overarching conflict of the universe. This classic dichotomic conflict plays out both metaphorically and literally, not just in grand cosmic events, but also in the most intimate of moments, as well as in political and societal turmoils. An eternal struggle of creation versus oblivion.
